Feb 20 - Wed Mid-week Walk - Wild Boar from the Fat Lamb, Ravenstonedale Midweek walk Wild Boar Fell 20th February 2019 at 10.00 am from The Fat Lamb, Crossbank, near Ravenstonedale. The nice people at The Fat Lamb have agreed that we may use their car park. It would probably be considerate if we parked together on the left hand side of the car park as you face the pub.
Wild Boar Fell will be by the Wainwright route. Approximately 7.5 miles with 1700' of ascent. Part of the route is over trackless moorland and the ground is quite rough and in places wet and boggy underfoot. Around 5 hours.
If the forecast is poor and the tops in cloud there is a lower level alternative. This will be around 9 miles with 1500' of ascent overall. Initially, part of the walk is through fields and due to the time of year they are quite wet and muddy in places. This is followed by just over a mile on a fell road which is steep leading to its summit. It all gets rosy after this with some lovely limestone walking. Around 5.5 hours.
If it's a really foul February day there are shorter alternatives. The route will be discussed and decided on the day.
